Nine years!

Today Scott and I are celebrating 9 years of marriage! We met 13 years ago on June 17 at my parent's house. I invited a few friends over to hang out while my parents were out of town and Scott came with. The moment he walked in the door I looked at him and thought, "Hmmm, now there's a cute one". We clicked immediately and we spent the evening under the stars talking while everyone else sat in my parent's basement. Scott left at 1:30AM and when he got home he called me immediately just to tell me that he was so glad to have met me and he wanted to see me again.

We had our first real date about a week later. He took me to Pattison Park, a WI state park that I had never been to before, and we went for a long walk together. Later that night as we said our goodbye's at his parents house, where he was then living, we had our first kiss. When I arrived home that night I laid in bed, reeling from the wonderful evening with him, and I knew that he was the man I was going to marry. I was 19 years old and he had just turned 20.

Of course, it wasn't happily ever after since then, and we have been through a lot together, good and bad. However, here we are, 9 years after our wedding, still together, still happy, and still very much in love. We've brought four children into this world together and are raising our family, an experience that has brought us closer and has deepened our love for each other. Every day with Scott is just that much better than the last and I can't wait to spend another 9 years with him!

Now, some little tidbits from our wedding day!

*As we were preparing for the ceremony Scott was in one part of the church with his groomsmen while I was in another area with my bridesmaids. My dad went to have a chat with Scott before the ceremony started and to give Scott a little advice. What was the advice you ask? Well, my dad told Scott, in front of his friends, that even though it is kind of gross to have sex when your wife has her period, women like it and it makes them feel better. He then recommend to Scott that he should be sure to have 'lots of sex with me while I am on the rag. (True story! If you know my dad you understand that this is exactly the type of thing that he would tell someone, even his future son-in-law!)

*Another dad related story. During the speeches at the reception my dad got up to say a few words. He ended up telling some story about goats and sex (I've blocked out exactly what he said because I was so embarrassed), and he then gave Scott $5 for taking me off of his hands.

*During the dance I had a couple of "incidents". The first was when I was dancing with one of the groomsmen and he decided to dip me. He ended up dropping me and we hit the floor together, with him landing directly on top of me. Awhile later as I danced I suddenly felt a breeze where I should not have been feeling a breeze. I realized that my dress had come unzipped all the way down to my ass. My MOH and one of my other friends came to my rescue and worked on getting it zipped back up, all while my MOH's then boyfriend (now husband) did some crazy dance in front of me to keep people from seeing what was going on.

*When Scott and I left the reception we found that someone had "decorated" our car. That someone was turned out to be one of my mom's very annoying friends. She and her sons squirted whipped cream all over the car and then toilet papered the car over that. It was 95+ degrees the day we got married, so the toilet paper dried onto our car like paper mache. My brother Jason came the next day to clean the car for us and he had such a difficult time getting the tp off that we ended up with hundreds of little scratches all over our previously perfect paint job. :-/

Happy Anniversary to us! :-)

Happy Anniversary. Funny stories! Our car got decorated too and our paint job was ruined as well! I am still irritated by it because the car was only three years old with a perfect paint job as well.

Happy Anniversary! (sorry, yesterday!)

David and I accidentally caused some damage to a friend's car by using chocolate syrup and shaving cream on a similarly hot day. It honestly was mostly the best man's fault, but I did make a huge chocolate anarchy sign on the hood that I guess was a bitch to get off!
