In the good old days people had to grow and hunt their own food. Women had to scrub their clothes with a wash board (I can't imagine what that would do to my silky underwear) and kids had to walk 2 miles to school, up hill both ways of course. People had to endure hard labor just to survive with the most basic of necessities.
Today in our society laziness rules the roost. If I wanted I could live my life from the over sized chair in my living room. With my lap top, well, on my lap I can do any of the following and not have to pry my ass from the comfort of its favorite chair.
1) Check the weather. Nope, I don't even have to walk to the window to look at the outdoor thermometer. A quick click on my weather.com bookmark and I can quickly find out what the temperature is outside, even though "outside" is only 12 feet from my chair.
2) Order groceries. These days we can log onto places like amazon.com and drugstore.com to buy our dry and non-perishable goods. From food to laundry detergent, from diapers to shampoo, I can order it all on-line. I can even go to places like www.diamondorganics.com and have yummy organic meals brought to me in a box of dry ice by the man in the brown truck. All I need is my handy dandy Mastercard.
3) Speaking of my Mastercard, I can also use that to pay bills on-line. Gone are the days that I have to worry about keeping envelopes in stock and going down to the post office to buy stamps to send said bills. Now I can pay my bills with a flew swift clicks and voila! Bills are paid and I can get back to blogging.
4) Avoid the most annoying place on earth, aka the post office. If I insist on sending bills via snail mail, I can order my stamps on-line and my mail carrier will deliver them right to my door. I can also print postage for letters and packages, and arrange to have them picked up at my house. Who needs the face to face interaction of the post office anymore? Not me!
5) Meet people. I have met a large majority of my good friends without so much as having to take a walk down to Les Bird's bar a block from my house. I've even met most of my local friends on-line. I think that in this case the internet has been a major blessing in my life. I have met people from around the world that I would have never met otherwise and I have made some great friends because of it.
I'm sure I could list more, but I am afraid if I sit on this chair for one more second my butt will adhere to it like what happened to the toilet seat lady.

- The Finn Family
- More than anything this blog is for us; for our own little family. As the days and months and years pass by we find ourselves forgetting many of the wonderful times that our family has shared. This blog is our way of documenting and helping us to remember.
