My poor Gwennie.

Gwen just got back with daddy from the ER about an hour ago with borderline 3rd degree burns on her right hand. :-( She and Regan wanted to make dinner tonight, so they got some enchiladas put together. They were being so sweet and they were so excited to cook for us. They begged me to let them put the enchilada dishes in the oven by themselves (which was pre-heated to 400), and against my best judgment I let them do it. Gwen ended up with two dime sized burns on her hand and I knew immediately upon seeing her hand that it was bad. It is all wrapped up now and we have to call the burn unit tomorrow to have her seen and find out if she will need any further treatment. I feel so awful. :-(

In this picture she is holding the stuffed baby seal that she got in the ER tonight. My poor girl.

Edited to add that Gwen is doing well. We took her to the burn clinic today and we were given a prescription cream to apply to her burns twice a day for the next 10-14 days, as well as instructions as to how we need to wrap it to keep germs and dirt out of the burns. She is being so brave about the whole thing and I am just so proud of her for hanging in there as she is.

Hugs to Gwennie! How scary! I burned myself on the oven once when I was younger (though not that badly!), and I still have kind of a fear of putting things in and taking them back out of the oven.
