Ack!

Once again I've failed this blog. (Also, could I BE anymore dramatic? Heh.)

It has been a busy August for us. Last weekend one of my best friends, Joy, and her family came to visit us. It was wonderful. They live 6+ hours from us, so we only get to see them a couple of times a year and it always feels so good to get to be with them. Not to mention that I got to snuggle Joy's new baby! Well, she's not so new anymore as she is about 4 months old now, but she is new enough.

Scott has been on vacation for the past week, so we did a lot of relaxing. Basically, we did nothing all week and now I am 98729837483 loads behind on laundry! It was worth it though. And really, I shouldn't say that we did "nothing", because we did do some stuff. Tuesday we went hiking by Lake Superior, which was an adventure. The trail was loaded with poison ivy and thankfully we mostly avoided it. Scott ended up with a few bumps on his forearms, but they healed quickly.

While we were hiking I was able to get a few photos.

I know, yet another boring bee shot.

Of course, since we were on vacation, we had to make a trip to our favorite place ever, the Portland Malt Shoppe. As usual, Regan ended up with the most ice cream on her face than all of us put together. It is a talent, really.

Braden climbed around like the boy he is.

Gwen checked out the sights while eating her cone.

Then we went for a walk.......

Our biggest adventure of the week was a day trip that we took to Hayward, Wisconsin. We love to take short day trips together and this one did not disappoint. We got to go to a huge candy shop which brought on sugar rushes just at the sight of all of the hundreds of different kinds of candy they offered. We then headed to the Wilderness Walk, where we got to hang out with some very cool and sweet animals.

Besides just getting to be with the animals, we also got to feed them, which I think was the highlight of the day!

Helping out with lunchtime.

We also laughed a lot and took all sorts of silly pictures.

Funhouse fun.

And finally, my favorite thing from the day was walking into the open air arcade and finding this sweet girl playing a video game!

What, you've never seen a goat playing a video game before?

Isn't she adorable?! I so wanted to bring her home with me.

It was a great day.

Our vacation came to an end today with a really fun trip to our SIL & BIL's family cabin to celebrate our niece, Anna's, birthday. Oh, and a trip to Urgent Care later on where Scott found out that he has a mad case of strep throat and tonsillitis. Le sigh.

On the agenda for this week: planning for Gwen and Braden's birthday party! Braden turned FOUR this past Monday and Gwen will turn six this coming Saturday. Where did my babies go?

More than anything this blog is for us; for our own little family. As the days and months and years pass by we find ourselves forgetting many of the wonderful times that our family has shared. This blog is our way of documenting and helping us to remember.
